Hydrolyst LLC
Providing green energy solutions.
Owned and operated by engineers
Based in Rapid City, SD and founded in 2020, Hydrolyst LLC has grown from the spark of an idea for a brewery run on off-grid energy to a company with a dedicated focus on bringing technical solutions to the green energy market.

The Idea
Hydrogen fuel cells play an important and growing role in meeting the world’s goal to reduce carbon emissions and to provide green off-grid energy solutions. Key challenges for hydrogen fuel cell manufacturers (and core to achieving this growth) is the need to improve the cost, life, and reliability of the electrocatalysts used in the fuel cells. Electrocatalysts account for roughly 40% of the fuel cell cost.
This is where Hydrolyst exceeds other products.
We are focused on developing an electrocatalyst that offers superior corrosion resistance and increased lifetime, all while being produced at a lower cost.
Hydrolyst uses our proprietary coating process to produce electrocatalyst material with a few key advantages:
High porosity/surface area providing optimal catalytic activity.
Coating process provides weld-like adhesion of catalyst nanoparticles to the scaffold for increased performance over longer life cycles.
Process uses nano-scale depositions only at the “triple phase interphase” (area where catalytic reaction occurs), so the amount of more expensive catalytic material used is minimal for large catalytically active areas. This reduces cost of Hydrolyst fuel cell systems.
